1. What led you to work in the Real Estate industry?
My Dad has always lived and breathed real estate. When I was a kid, he was always sneaking in visits to industrial buildings while we were on vacation. Real estate has always been a constant in my life and something I was always interested in learning more about. Currently I am responsible for managing leasing in the Chicago and Milwaukee markets.

2. Who have been the biggest influences in your career?
My Dad and cousin have been the biggest influences in my career.  I have watched my dad work in real estate my entire life and have learned a lot from him. He has shown me the power of hard work and taught me the importance of building relationships. My cousin, Kevin, has encouraged me to excel as a woman in real estate and offered me support along the way. I am grateful to work with him and appreciate his guidance over the years.

3. Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years I look forward to continuing working in industrial real estate and growing my skillset.

4. How long have you been involved with NAIOP and what do you view as the benefits of your NAIOP Developing Leader membership?
I have been involved in NAIOP since roughly 2016. I enjoy the friendships I have made along the way. Attending the events is a great way to learn, network, and to gain exposure in the industry.

5. What is the best piece of professional advice you have been given?
“Getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to learn.” You need to be willing to put yourself in uncomfortable situations in order to grow and gain confidence. This could mean volunteering for projects at work that stretch your experience or going to a networking event alone. You learn and grow best by saying yes to things that might scare you.

6. What characteristics do you consider most important in your role and in the industry?
Trustworthiness, resourcefulness, patience, and drive.

7. Outside of work, how do you enjoy spending your time?
I love trying new restaurants with my husband, skiing, and spending time with my dog, Tinker. I also love travelling with my family. I try to get out of the country at least twice a year.

8. What is your favorite building in Chicago?
I will always love The Great Hall in Union Station. That is where I got married! The memories along with the beautiful architecture make it a favorite of mine.

9. What’s the funniest story from your time working in CRE?
I was once doing a site tour with a group for a building we were looking at purchasing. One of the tenants had two giant dogs in his space. When we entered, one of the dogs was a little too excited to see me and he tackled me to the ground and began licking me uncontrollably until his owner could pull him off me. Once the tenant got one of the dogs contained, the other dog broke free and tackled me as well. Luckily, I love dogs. And they clearly love me!
