RAUNER LAUNCHES TURNAROUND AGENDA
Governor Rauner recently launched his Turnaround Agenda consisting of six individual “vehicle bills”. His agenda outlines specific language on reform measures and is an attempt to create a more business-friendly climate in Illinois. Proposals include:
- HB 574 … a renewed focus on business and economic development in Illinois
- Property Tax Reform … Illinois has the second highest property taxes in the nation
- Worker’s Compensation Costs … would bring Illinois in line with 29 other states that have higher causation standards
- Lawsuit Reform … Illinois is ranked a poor 46th out of 50 states for our lawsuit climate
- Term Limits … state legislator term limits of no more than 10 years
- Bankruptcy Reform … helping struggling municipalities
The first three issues are highly pertinent to the real estate industry and we encourage members to read more about Governor Rauner’s reforms.
