09.21.22

NAIOP Chicago is excited to introduce our 2022-23 Future Leaders University Scholarship recipients. These three students from DePaul, Loyola, and Roosevelt University exemplify the commitment and innovation coming from the new generation of Chicago’s commercial real estate industry and we are honored to play a role in fostering their professional development.

In addition to tuition assistance, recipients of the Future Leaders Scholarship receive a one-year NAIOP membership, a mentor involved in a field related to their interests, as well as a variety of other local benefits. The NAIOP Chicago University Scholarship program is annual, with applications to the program accepted in early Summer of each year.  Read more about our University Scholarship program.

Patricia Calma | Loyola University

Patricia Calma is a full-time undergraduate student at Loyola University of Chicago. She is currently studying Marketing and Real Estate with a semester abroad studying International Business in Madrid. From March to August, Patricia had hands-on experience through a full-time internship in residential real estate at a property management company. Through her internship, Patricia gained a hard work ethic and the endurance to drive success in her future endeavors. Working as a combined leasing agent and consultant has further driven Patricia’s passion to pursue real estate and has fueled her interest in exploring commercial real estate. The NAIOP Chicago Scholarship will allow Patricia to build connections, grow her network and increase her knowledge and willpower. She hopes that she will leave a long-lasting impact on the connections she has made as well as with her mentors.

Roxanne Garcia | Roosevelt University

Roxanne Garcia is working towards a Master of Science in Real Estate at Roosevelt University with a certificate of Metropolitan Planning and Community Development at DePaul University. She is pursuing a career towards designing, constructing, and managing buildings in the world of architecture, impacting over 35 M in community development projects focused on the southwest side of Chicago as well as international projects. This has transitioned her into learning the business development side during her internship with LivCor, A Blackstone Company, as a CapEx Analyst and ROI Redevelopment intern.

Roxanne has a goal of becoming a developer and investor within her communities and one day starting her own real estate development firm. She hopes to revitalize empty lots, re-envision buildings, and grow a portfolio. As a NAIOP Chicago Future Leaders Scholar, she aims to establish and grow relationships with a supportive community by being surrounded by great leaders, mentors and investors that will guide her on this journey.

Bryant Riley | DePaul University

Bryant Riley is a Master of Science in Real Estate candidate at DePaul University. He currently works as a development associate at Magellan Development, a real estate firm that builds high-quality mixed-use residential buildings in downtown urban cores. Prior to Magellan, Bryant has worked in acquisition and asset management roles at private equity real estate firms.

He has served as a program director at Minds Matter Philly, which is a college prep program for high achieving low-income students who attend local high schools in Philadelphia. Bryant holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Roosevelt University. He is a South Side, Chicago native. Through the NAIOP Chicago University Scholarship, he is looking forward to exploring how to implement social impact into development projects, while meeting investors’ return requirements.
