Meet a NAIOP Chicago Developing Leader | Jordan Blonsky
Name: Jordan Blonsky
Company: CBRE – National Partners
Position: Senior Financial Analyst – (Vice President)
Education: University of Kentucky
Years in Real Estate: 7
What led you to work in the Real Estate industry? Describe your current responsibilities:
I had the opportunity to shadow a family friend when I was in high school and quickly decided I wanted to work within the industrial industry. I was looking for a career where I would be able to mix my love of math and be client facing. Starting as a financial analyst allowed me to learn the industry and gain a lot of reps in the capital market space. My current role requires me to handle all underwriting for a deal from the BOV stage to closing.
Who has been the biggest influence in your career?
Chris Zubel, without him, I am not sure I would know about the industry.
How long have you been involved with NAIOP and what do you view as the benefits of your NAIOP Developing Leader membership?
I recently joined NAIOP but have gotten so much out of it in the past year. Through my membership I have grown connections with both my peers and more senior leaders within the industry through the mentorship program.
What are your future career goals?
My career goals are to continue growing my real estate knowledge from all perspectives and seeing where the industry takes me.
What has surprised you most about the brokerage industry so far?
The fact that no two deals are the same, I thought that deals would become repetitive, but every deal has its own nuances and new opportunities to learn and grow.
What part of your job do you find most rewarding?
I love getting to work with clients every day. We are in a service industry, and I love getting to help deliver top quality service and results to our clients.
What advice would you give someone earlier in their career wanting to break into the brokerage industry?
Start building your network and talk to anyone and everyone. This is a relationship business and starting to build your network early will be a huge advantage.
Outside of work, how do you enjoy spending your time?
I am currently training for the Chicago Marathon (my first)! If I am not running, I am either playing golf, mahjong or needlepointing! I love grandma hobbies!
What’s your favorite restaurant in the city and your go to order?
I love Sushi Dokku and order it way too often! My go to is an order of the Tuna Truffle with some Shishito Peppers and dumplings!
