The Chicago Chapter of NAIOP has taken some important steps to ensure our collective voice is heard among our local governmental leaders and elected officials in Springfield.
Recently, our Board of Directors has laid the foundation for an expanded governmental affairs program within our Chapter. We have taken the initiative to retain one of Illinois’ most well regarded lobbyists in Steve Morrill of Morrill & Associates. Morrill & Associates has created a program to accurately communicate the significant impact our industry makes on the economy of Illinois.
Our Legislative Committee goals through 2007 and 2008 include:
- Working with Steve Morrill to proactively create an Illinois State Legislative Agenda for the Chicago Chapter of NAIOP.
- Tracking ‘pro’ and ‘anti’ business legislation in Springfield and organizing NAIOP member responses and correspondence to members of the General Assembly.
- Organizing an annual NAIOP Chicago Advocacy Day in Springfield.
- Meeting with members of the General Assembly to promote NAIOP’s position on pieces of legislation.
- Organizing and promoting quarterly meetings with elected officials for our members.
